Human Resources
Instructor: Ojetta C. Townes

Welcome to the Human Resources page of the Ridgewood Public Schools website!  Ridgewood is one of the finest school districts in New Jersey, and the nation.  We have a long history of excellence that sets our district apart from most others, and we work hard every day to maintain that tradition.

Ridgewood’s rigorous recruitment process, coupled with our strong support for professional growth, allows us to attract and develop an exceptional staff of teachers, specialists and administrators. Our employees receive compensation packages that are among the most generous in the state; and we work in a community that is deeply committed to our goal of preparing intelligent, well-rounded young adults for fulfilling, successful lives.

If your passion is to help children learn how to pursue their dreams, and you understand that our complex society demands excellence, then we invite you to bring your talents to Ridgewood!
Human Resources Announcements
SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS, NURSES AND SECRETARIES
The district is looking for additional substitute teachers, nurses and secretaries for the 2016-2017 school year. Please see the Substitute Teachers, Nurses and Secretaries folder in the Department Files section below for full details and application materials.
ONLINE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Our job opportunities are posted online and all applications are accepted through our online system. Please click here for more information.

DENTAL PLAN

Eligible district employees may enroll in one of two different dental insurance plans: the Horizon BC/BS “Dental Option Plan” (DPPO) or the Horizon BC/BS “Dental Choice, Plan K” (DHMO).  The Horizon Dental Option Plan (DPPO) allows employees to use any in-network or out-of-network dentist(s) they choose, but has dollar limitations on the amount(s) of coverage it provides.  The Horizon Dental Choice Plan (DHMO) requires the selection of a Primary Care Dentist from a smaller network of participating providers, but provides broader coverage and lower out-of-pocket costs than the Horizon Dental Option Plan (DPPO).

The “plan year” for dental insurance is now July 1st through June 30th just like it is for medical insurance.  An employee interested in comparing providers who participate in the two Horizon dental insurance plans can search for local participating providers using the Horizon Provider Directory:

http://directory.horizonblue.com/

If an employee has questions about our dental insurance options, s/he should contact Maryjane Moynihan at x10535 or Ojetta Townes at x10504.

Department Files
 A. SUBSTITUTE TEACHER, NURSES AND SECRETARIES INFORMATION
The district has put out a call for additional substitute teachers, nurses and secretaries for the 2016-2017 school year.

Substitutes enjoy the freedom of selecting their dates of work according to their personal schedules. The process has been modernized and streamlined through a self-scheduling online system called Aesop that allows individuals to view the district calendar of substitute openings and to plan their work dates in advance.

Pay rates for the 2016-2017 school year are as follows: teachers $92 to $125 per diem; nurses $130 per diem; secretaries $12.50 to $17 per hour.

Anyone with valid State of New Jersey certification may apply to register with the district as a substitute teacher or nurse. Substitute secretaries do not require state certification. A substitute teacher must hold either a New Jersey Teacher Certificate or a New Jersey Substitute Teacher Certificate. Substitute nurses must have a current New Jersey Nursing License and the Substitute Teacher Certificate, or a School Nurse Teaching Certificate issued by the State of New Jersey. Substitute certificates are good for five years and can be used anywhere in New Jersey.

Substitute teachers and nurses require an official transcript showing at least 60 college credits. All substitutes must also provide an approval letter from a criminal background check / fingerprinting and documentation that a tuberculosis test was recently performed. The total application costs are approximately $200.

This folders contains the paperwork required for fingerprinting and applying for a Substitute Certificate, along with the packet of application materials for subbing in Ridgewood. For further information or to bring in your paperwork for processing, please contact Eileen Rix at 201-670-2700, ext. 10542 or erix@ridgewood.k12.nj.us. www.ridgewood.k12.nj.us.
